Instrumentation: Piano Quartet (piano, violin, viola, & cello)
Date Completed: July 2015
Notes: I wrote this piece over the summer in Avalon, NJ, a "sea village" near Cape May. I always felt a bit nostalgic there, as my family has vacationed there since my mother's early childhood. Avalon was also hurt by Hurricane Irene and Hurricane Sandy - many shops in the center of town were flooded, though our house was lucky. (That's where the mopey recapitulation comes from.) This piece is in many ways a love letter to Avalon, but it's also a narrative piece that can be interpretted any way imaginable.
