Jason Brauer, a 19-year-old sophomore at Vanderbilt University, is a freelance composer, arranger, and pianist. He recently studied at the Screen Music Workshop based in Milan, where he was awarded second place. His latest projects include the apocalyptic cantata The Eternal Beginning and the short ballet for chamber winds The Steadfast Tin Soldier. His recent choral work "Hymn to the Morning" was premiered by the Blue Mountain High School Chorus, and he performed his Piano Concerto with the Anthracite Philharmonic. Jason studied at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, where his piece "The Mollies' Mark" was recorded by the World Youth Symphony Orchestra. His piece “Tango de Manchachicoj” for string quartet placed second at the national level in the Music Teachers National Association composition contest, senior division.
Jason has been playing piano since age 4, and he also studies baritone voice and horn. He attended Blue Mountain High School and is from Orwigsburg, PA.
